September 15 | 16:30 – 17:20
On September 15, KYIV MEDIA WEEK Special and The Embassy of Canada to Ukraine present a star inspiration talk "VFX and Animation in Canada: Let's Talk about Co-Production". As far as the ratification of The Audiovisual Cooperation Treaty between Ukraine and Canada comes shortly, the new opportunities for collaboration between both countries arise. The pandemic significantly restrains international cooperations in content production, that is why the most promising directions now are animation and visual effects. The session is a unique opportunity to get inspired by top Canadian VFX experts, who worked on the legendary blockbusters by Netflix, Marvel, Disney and to find out how the industry giants work.

Neishaw Ali is a founding Partner and President of SPINVFX, an internationally recognized leader in visual effects production. Her credits include Game of Thrones, Fargo, Stranger Things and more. Neishaw will share the SPINVFX's approach to the large-scale international VFX-collaborations, will talk about animation and her experience of gathering the best professionals from all around the world into her company's projects. She will also tell about international professional associations on visual effects and will recommend ways of finding partners and financing for those who intend to work on the international market.

KMW's audience will also learn about visual effects production in Marvel's Iron Man, from Wesley Sewell, a VFX supervisor. His credits also include other Marvel's franchises such as The Avengers and Thor, he worked closely with Ridley Scott to supervise American Gangster, A Good Year, and the epic Kingdom of Heaven. Wesley has pioneered many techniques in the mastering and finishing of 3D films. These techniques are being utilized by nearly all 3D films finishing in Hollywood today. His contribution into the industry is widely acknowledged with international awards, including the Lumiere Award.
Moderator of the session: Egor Borschevsky, CEO of POSTMODERN Digital, a leading Ukrainian VFX and CGI company, part of FILM.UA Group.

In October, all registered attendees of KMW will receive a handy white paper with analytical researches and reviews on Ukrainian and global audiovisual industry developed exclusively for KMW GM.
The session is organized by MRM supported by the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine and co-organized with the Ukrainian Motion Picture Association (UMPA).
