In less than a week, the international forum
KYIV MEDIA WEEK Global Marathon is going to take place. The event is organized by
Media Resources Management for the tenth time. This year, with support of the
Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, the forum will be held online and free worldwide; the registration continues.
The event begins on
September 14, Monday at 10:00, with the national section "
In creativity we trust. How to build a sustainable ecosystem of AV business in Ukraine", which is devoted to an analytical overview of the Ukrainian media industry in key facts and figures. The panellists of the discussion will be:
Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine,
Victoria Yarmoshchuk, CEO of FILM.UA Group,
Eugene Bondarenko, Director of Media Group Ukraine and
Ivan Shestakov, Chief Innovation Officer at MEGOGO. The discussion will be moderated by
Anastasiya Rakhmanina, Editor-in-Chief of
Media Business Reports (MBR), a leading Ukrainian information-analytical website and partner of the forum.
The topic of the discussion is the unification of media industry players with a joint development strategy and the development of an effective ecosystem of the industry at the national level, so that Ukraine can take a strong position in the international market. Ukraine has proven its competitiveness with successful cases, its advantages over other countries of content production are beyond doubt – a favorable geographical location and variety of locations for filming, updated legal framework and launch of cash rebates, developed network of companies providing the highest quality content creation and distribution: studio complexes, rentals, bases of props and costumes, unique talents with extraordinary ideas and stories. But why is it too early to talk about the sustainable development of the audiovisual industry in Ukraine, even outside the restrictions imposed to fight COVID-19? How can Ukraine become a reliable player on the world industrial map? The panellists will work together to answer these questions and try to outline all the steps necessary for the formation of an effective business system in the Ukrainian content industry.
The national discussion will open the 10th anniversary KYIV MEDIA WEEK Global Marathon, followed by comprehensive analytical overviews of media industries in Asia, Eastern, Central and Western Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, and Latin America. The program will feature real stars of the global audiovisual industry from around the world, and the leading international think tanks will present their research and uncover the global media industry as it is in 2020 exclusively to the KMW audience.
The next day, on
September 15, KMW Special will take place with the support of the
European Union, the United States Agency for International Development (
USAID) and the
Embassy of Canada to Ukraine.
KMW Special is a series of online events dedicated to the new rules of European media business, fakes and manipulations in the information space, opportunities for co-production with Canada in VFX and animation, as well as successes and prospects of socially important content in Ukraine. Participation in KMW Special is free.
Traditionally, the KMW program covers all areas of modern media business: movies, TV, formats, series, animation, digital technologies, kids content, legislation, unique opportunities of the Ukrainian media industry, international co-production and much more.
All registered participants of the KMW Global Marathon and KMW Special will receive a handy
White Paper – a post-review document that gathers the most interesting information, conclusions of the presentations and discussions of the regional sections of KMW, as well as the results of all research from the international and local agencies exclusively for KMW.
