KMW and K7 Media unleash the program of the Asia section of the forum

September 14 | 11:30 – 12:20
Asia will be the first region in the path of the KYIV MEDIA WEEK Global Marathon on September 14, organized by MRM with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. The partner of the section – the international media consultancy K7 Media, will present an analytical overview of trends of the audiovisual industry in Asia, focusing on the most interesting and vigorous markets in the region, namely China, South Korea and Vietnam.

In a frame of the Asia section, participants of KMW Global Marathon will obtain insights from some ongoing projects in Asia, which mirror the current situation in the world. A panel discussion featuring key media industry representatives from different countries will focus on how the COVID crisis affects different content market figures, defining general shifts in theatrical and television sectors. The speakers (names TBA soon) will share the business models of top market players who are adapting to the new realities and how they are now building cooperation with other countries.

The section will be moderated by Michelle Lin, a distinguished expert and the Asia-Pacific Manager at K7 Media. She is experienced in content and format analysis, multi-genre programme research and territory study on Asia-Pacific countries.

"Using each country as an example, we will examine indicative case studies, which define the market reaction to the situation: how the audience's appetite and business processes change, what anti-crisis decisions are made by top market players and which of them are really efficient. For many years in a row, the Asian region is renowned for its outstanding formats that impress the world. For instance, South Korea has built up a good reputation in the field of entertainment and art, so now when you mention "K-Formats", everybody can easily name a few successful examples. Other countries in the region are also learning fast from the vast imports and the experience of adapting formats. So, in my research I particularly focus on them and introduce some new unscripted formats that have high potential from the Asian region" – announces Michelle Lin.
KMW Global Marathon participants will be able to continue their immersion into the Asian media market even after the forum. Afterwards all of them will receive a White Paper – a special post-review document with the most interesting analysis, aligned summary of all presentations and discussions that took place during the KMW regional sections, as well as the results of all researches conducted by international and local agencies specifically for KMW 2020.
